this is an antique hand written recipe..

1 cup shortening

2 cup  sugar

4 eggs

1/2 tsp almond extract

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 c milk

4 c flour

3 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 c seedless raisins

1 c candied cherries

1 c pineapple

1/2 c citron or orange peel and lemon peel

1 c walnut meats

soak all in 1/4 c rose water (wine)

Cream shortening until creamy add sugar. Beat well. Stir in eggs (well  beaten) flavorings and gradually milk. Mix and sift four b powder salt.. then add to first mixture stirring well. Finally stir in raisins and fruit nut (that have been soaking in  the rose water)  Bake in moderate oven 325 degrees about 2 hours.. check for doneness
