BUTTERMILK BUTTER BISCUITS

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

3/4 stick chilled butter cut into small pieces

1 cup buttermilk

 

Preheat oven 425

Grease baking sheet (I sprayed Bakers Joy)

In large bowl mix together flour, baking soda, powder, and salt

using a pastry cutter, cut in the butter or 2 knives, till flour mixture is coarse like little crumbs

Make a well in the center of the flour and pour in buttermilk

Tossing with a fork till ALL dry ingredients are just moistened.

Do not overmix

On a floured surface pat dough to a 1 inch thickness

Using a round 2 inch biscuit cutter, cut biscuits . Gather trimmings roll into a 1 inch thickness and cut out more.

Place biscuits on a cookie sheet 1 inch apart

Brush tops of biscuits with melted butter

Bake till golden (recipe said 20 minutes but for my oven 15)

Enjoy.
