do a lot of you still do cooked cabbage for New Years? About 3 years ago, I started adding some thick sliced pepperoni and my kids beg for it year round! Last year I added some red pepper flakes for some heat, and it was a success as well. My great grandmother Agee taught me to make cabbage and pepporoni, and its still a family favorite!!

    • Marla Patton Watson mmm… sounds great.. My mom can cook cabbage, me bahahaa! No!

    • Rosetta Sperring Larry, we do pork n’ sourkraut, mashed potatoes and blackeye peas for New Years. We put the pork n’ sourkraut in a crockpot and let it do it’s thing. I’ve never heard of cabbage and pepperoni…I’m sure it’s good.

    • Larry Wallace not beong mean but stating a fact. We had a black lady that cooked for ius some, and, dont tell my family!!!!!, but some of my favorite recipes are HERS! Some of her dishes inspire me so much, I will cook all night just to replicate one of her dishes!

    • Marla Patton Watson Awww.. I think that is sweet!!

    • Larry Wallace hey Rosetta, what cut of pork do you use? I have a barrell and make sauerkraut, and add it to my cabbage rolls too. But i have never pared pork with it, and it sounds yummy! A pork roast witjh roasted veggies and saurkraut!! Mmmmmm Mmmmm,

    • Larry Wallace and BTW, give me some black eyed peas cooked with a smoked ham hock, and I am one happy boy! Strait back to my childhood!

    • Rosetta Sperring Marla, most of the time we use pork butt or a shoulder roast because you want the pork a little fattier to add more flavor. Put your pork butt (salt and peppered) in a crock pot with a little water and let it cook on high about 5 hours then remove from crock pot and pick off the meat and pick away the fat, then put back in the crockpot, then add the sourkraut and let cook in the cock pot until it’s all hot and cook through.

    • Rosetta Sperring Opps, Marla, Larry had asked what kind of pork I we use. Sorry Larry! lol

    • Marla Patton Watson It is okay, I was wondering too! 🙂

    • Rosetta Sperring It’s my watery itchy allergy ridden eyes! lol

    • Larry Wallace it sounds great Rosetta!! I have some fresh sourkraut in tjhe fridge, and a pork shoulder setting on the counter, just pulled it ou! Guess whats for dinner tomorrow?? Lol, just add hot sauce, and my 8 kids and I will be stuffed and happy!! Lol.

    • Marla Patton Watson lol.. I love kraut with sausage is normally how I eat it.. never tired like you had said.. and it sounds yummy too..

    • Rosetta Sperring Sounds great Larry, but I’m not sure about the hot sauce. I know a girl that puts hot sause on anything.

    • Rosetta Sperring She pours hot sauce in a bag of cheetoes! lol

    • Rosetta Sperring Larry, I’m sure your kids will love it! Marla, once you try pork n’ sour kraut on mashed potatoes, you’ll want it again and again. The juice of the sourkraut in the mashed potatos is soooo good!

    • Marla Patton Watson Sounds good! The bad, I am the only one in my entire family that likes kraut. I guess I could just spoil myself!!
