CLOVER ROLLS        – ALSO HOW TO FREEZE  HOMEMADE ROLLS and reuse later-

So I made a ton of my Basic Bread Dough .. thought I would make some clover rolls and freeze them for another day.

  • Note if you planning on freezing any type rolls… only let the dough rise ONCE then shape

pinch off and shape your rolls how you want..  today I chose the clover roll

for clover leaf rolls, simply shape three smooth small balls rolled and dropped into three’s in each muffin tin

cover with saran wrap and freeze till hard

then  take out and put into freezer bags or foil  once frozen solid

Date your rolls.. you must use them up to 3 months.. six is pushing it.. after that no good (it’s according how nice  your dough is.. if you got a good rise you can store it longer in freezer if you didn’t you should plan on using it sooner than later)

when ready to use take out let thaw at room temp, then let raise.. sometimes you won’t get as nice a rise as freshly made rolls but they still should rise..

once raised you  can brush  lightly with melted butter

at this point you can bake them, but many people like to add poppy seeds to their clover rolls as well as  a touch of parsley flakes

bake at 400 degrees for 10- 13 minutes.. (you just have to watch them.. I really don’t time many of my baked goods.. each time is slightly different.. so you can tell when they are done for yourself)

brush with butter again if needed.. but in tea towel lined bowl and cover to keep warm until dinner is served.. enjoy..  and remember next time to make extra rolls for the freezer =)
